A service health check is a focused, remote review of your key documentation, carried out by an experienced consultant. It gives you a clear, honest snapshot of where your service stands, without the cost or commitment of a full audit.
It is a practical way to spot risks early and build confidence in your compliance, before an inspection or a significant change.
We focus on the higher-risk areas the regulator pays most attention to, including the care and treatment of people with complex needs and those who are less able to share their own experience.
We carry out a remote review of the key documentation that shows how your service is run.
This includes a sample of care and clinical records and risk assessments, training and supervision records, accidents, incidents and complaints, health and safety records, key policies and procedures, meeting minutes, business continuity plans, and audit and quality assurance records.
Because it is carried out remotely, a health check reviews evidence rather than observing care or speaking with people and staff directly. Records such as meeting minutes and surveys help us understand how your service is performing against the regulations.
An honest view of where your service is strong and where the risks are.
Concerns identified before they become a problem at inspection.
A focused list of what to address first, and how.
Carried out by a consultant who has run regulated services and knows what good looks like.
It is not a full inspection or audit. There are no scores, met or unmet judgements or ratings given, just clear, honest feedback highlighting the gaps we find, such as flagging where an incident log does not show that duty of candour has been applied.
A health check is a focused, remote review of your key documentation. A mock inspection is a full, on-site simulation of the CQC process. Many services start with a health check and move to a mock inspection when they want the full picture.
Yes. A health check is a remote, desktop-based review. You share your key documentation with us securely and we review it and report back, with no visit required.
Yes. If you would rather we concentrate on a particular area, such as care records or medicines management, we can tailor the review to what matters most to you.
